8 Foods You Thinks Are Healthy But Are Not2018-12-15T13:52:42+00:00

Project Description

With advertising and marketing only focusing on some the small amounts of nutritional content in certain foods it is easy to get confused with what is healthy and what is not. Always remember that food companies know that most people want to stay as healthy as possible.  So, although a certain ingredient is at the very bottom of the ingredient list meaning there is only a small amount of that ingredient in the item that you are eating they will still list it on the front of the package.  I listen to  clients tell me what they are eating all the time and here are 8 items that you might think are healthy, but are really filled with ingredients that you don’t want in your body.

  1. Sweet Potato Chips                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Although they are made out of sweet potatoes, most of them are fried removing the nutrients that make sweet potatoes beneficial.
  2. houston personal trainer, tatiana scott, foods to avoidBran Muffins                                                                                                                                                                                You hear the word bran and you automatically think healthy, but many are filled with simple carbohydrates, high fructose corn syrup, and refined sugars.
  3. Gatorade                                                                                                                                                                                         This drink is meant for athletes or individuals who are extremely active. The original Gatorade is filled with calories and sugar. The average individual who is trying to lose weight should not drink Gatorade.
  4. Nutri-grain bars                                                                                                                                                                        Also filled with refined sugars causing spikes in your blood sugar levels which you want to try and avoid if weight loss is your goal.nutritgrain bars, tatiana scott, houston personal trainer, foods to avoid, tatiana scott
  5. Boxed or Carton Fruit juices                                                                                                                                   Whole fresh fruit or cold pressed fresh juice will always be the way to go when health is your primary concern. They retain most nutrients and do not have tons of added preservatives and fillers.
  6. Yogurt                                                                                                                                                                               Not all yogurt supports weight loss and health. Many yogurts are filled with tons of added sugar as well as high fructose corn syrup. Be sure that your yogurt has minimal added sugar and is void of trans fats/high fructose corn syrup.
  7. Canned meats, fish, etc                                                                                                                                                         Many canned meats are filled with tons of sodium. Be mindful of your sodium intake. Try rinsing off the product before using it.
  8. Cereal                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Just because the cereal says whole grain on the front does not mean that it supports weight loss. Most cereals are filled with refined sugars and additives that don’t support a healthy lifestyle. Plus most people don’t eat the recommended serving size.

Always be mindful of what you are putting in your body and remember that the first item’s listed on the ingredient list is what the item you are eating is mostly made up of. If those ingredients are anything that you don’t want to put in your body, please put the item back on  the shelf and slowly walk away.

You only have one body, take care of it.
